Iain is a facilitator of strategic growth and change. Over the past 25 years, he has assisted the leaders of private, public and social sector enterprises resolve difficult issues, set new directions and deliver exceptional results.
Currently, as founder and managing partner of Somerville and Associates, based in Los Angeles, Iain serves the leaders of mid-sized businesses and non-profits - mainly those in the $70-700 million range - assisting them to accelerate high-margin growth and make breakthroughs in performance.
Formerly, as founder and managing partner of the Accenture Organization & Change Strategy Practice; M&A and Alliances Center of Excellence; and Institute for Strategic Change; and in senior management roles with McKinsey and IBM; he has assisted CEOs and their boards create and grow businesses.
Iain has a Harvard MBA where he graduated as a Baker Scholar; co-edits the Leader to Leader ‘Wisdom to Action’ book series; and is a member of several ‘thought leader’ networks, including the Financial Times Knowledge Dialogue.
He is a Certified Director (UCLA Anderson School/ISS). His current board memberships include the Drucker-Ito Graduate School of Management, the Leader to Leader Institute, the Association for Strategic Planning and the National Human Services Assembly.
He has been described by Peter Drucker, the founding father of modern management, as: “the best facilitator of meetings, conferences and work groups I have ever met”.
